Meenakari is a piece of art and has been part of traditional Indian jewelry since centuries. It was developed in Rajasthan after it was introduced by Mughals & Hindu princesses. Meenakari jewellery is usually prepared by Sonar goldsmith community in Rajasthan, Jaipur, Bikaner regions by using colored materials like cobalt oxide for Blue & Copper Oxide for Green and by using metal surface for precious gemstones like Ruby, Emerald, Pearls, etc.
Meenakari jewels are a piece of art with Kundan ornaments that provide a rich look & showcase the royalty of Indian traditional jewellery designs especially for wedding brides. Meenakari art can be made only by skilled artisans and needs a lot of training. The work is prepared on a piece of gold and different designs are carved on it like fish, flower, birds, peacocks, parrots and elephants is popular in “Meenakari Kundan” art jewels.
